How To Sell Beats: RocBattle

By Kyler Artz

If you want to know how to sell beats on RocBattle, the answer is actually very simple. Quite frankly, the website isn't very hard to understand and it's probably a lot easier to sell beats on that site than others because it takes a great deal less work.

Soundclick is extremely hard to rank in the charts. You have to get an extraordinary amount of plays if you expect to be breaking the top 10, because even at tens of thousands of plays per day you're not going to break the top of the charts.

RocBattle is cool because it's a lot easier to rank for, and you really don't have to think nearly as much. It's all about wins and losses, which makes the charts system simple and easy to take advantage of. The charts are based upon who wins the most battles per month, meaning that the guys who lose a lot of battles on that site are going to be at a serious disadvantage. Luckily the numbers reset every month.

Only one thing can come of this kind of situation that RocBattle has created... People are going to basically get a bunch of friends together, vote for each others battles constantly and rise in the charts because of this. This means that it's whoever has the biggest click, not whoever has the best beat. The charts system is not fair, so I suggest you stoop down to their level and do the exact same thing, but more efficiently and with less time lost.

This may sound a little bit gray-hat, and in truth I think it is, but that's OK. The fact of the matter is, you're not going to be hurting anybody's experience online, all that'll happen is you'll get to a higher point in the charts, bringing you more plays and higher chance of sales. What you should do is get a group of friends together (probably about 10), and manage them all in an easy mailing list system. What happens is, every time one of the people on the list puts up a new beat, you can use a simple email system (even gmail would work) to contact everybody in your group, so that everyone constantly votes for each others battles! You can make two accounts each, one for the Exclusive members charts and one for the basic charts... Take over both! Why not?

RocBattle's exclusive membership costs $7 a month right now, and it might go up sometime in the future... Does that sound expensive? If you could get into a group of 5-10 people and you guys could all start seriously dominating for just $7 a month each, wouldn't that be worth it? I mean, one beat sale will definitely cover the cost, and in all likelihood you're probably going to make more. The only way this won't work is if you and the other producers in the team are really bad producers... Remember not to promote yourself until you feel confident with your beats' sell-ability.

Soundclick is basically impossible to rank for because it takes so many plays to get into the charts. But the thing about it is, you don't have to get anywhere near the top 10. Soundclick has so much massive traffic that you can generate thousands of visitors even in the low 100's!!
