Airborne photography is defined as the actual taking of photographs whilst in the air, either by way of a plane, hot air balloon, rocket, skydiver, ultra light, helicopter, rocket or some other type of airborne vehicle. Aerial photography originated in France within 1958 when an avid balloonist and photographer named Nadar, took his first aerial photographs. Aerial photography has many different purposes for instance; military strategy and surveillance, mapmaking, moving making, espionage, wildlife studies, natural source research and residential pictures as well as many other purposes.

Home aerial photography is very well-liked by individuals and families that live in rural areas. These types of photographs, while often pricey, allow the resident to see their home and adjoining acreage from above, a viewpoint that is nearly impossible to photograph. A pilot friend lately began to give airborne photography to clients, buddies and business associates. This unique gift is traditionally quite expensive. However, he is able to provide this gift, as he individually owns the plane and camera. To him, it is a unique way of indicating his gratitude and friendship. However, to the recipients, it is priceless.
