Controlling Your Janitorial Management Costs Is Critical!
By Gregory Covey
If you're looking `to get a handle on your janitorial management contract costs, `the first step you will need `to take is understanding `the biggest expense you will have. The answer is labor and `that seems, obvious, of course. In order to get a better grasp on how you can get `this, under control it is wise `to break `the elements, down. The purpose of `this article is `to get you started on `that process.
Creating assignment sheets, although very basic is an essential element and must be addressed. Assignment sheets are a list of areas, `to be cleaned along with `the duties associated with `them and `time frame `to be accomplished. For example you would identify cleaning a restroom from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm. The `tasks, included in cleaning `the restroom should also be listed. Adjust `the `time allotted for cleaning the restroom `to fit your facility.
Another key thing `to look at is what exactly is `the routine of your staff? Are `they performing `task in an order `that keeps, `them the most productive. An exaggerated example of `this, is if they were cleaning a `three story building and didn't finish all `the `tasks, on one floor before moving `to `the others. Then at some point returning back `to `that floor `to continue where they left off. Therefore make sure your cleaning assignment sheets, make sense and are having `them work in a methodical way.
Some more simple `things, `to consider would be equipment `team cleaning and chemicals. Keep in mind `the newer equipment is designed `to save on labor so an investment on new equipment just may pay for itself very quickly. Team cleaning is another way `to reduce `the start stop `times, associated with switching between `tasks. Using the right chemical for `the job can also reduce `the `time it takes, `to be effective which will also save on labor. These are just a few of `the ways, `to reduce your labor costs, and make your janitorial cleaning business, much more profitable.
The bottom line is `that you can not let your labor costs, get out of control. You must manage your janitorial cleaning business, closely. You must be able to identify ways, `to shave `time off of every duty your staff has.
