Problems With Wired Networks
By Jim Witt.
Wired networks are a great asset to individuals and companies alike. They save you time and energy by being efficient and reliable. There are a few common problems that you may run into with a wired network. This article will discuss a few of these problems and your options for solving them.
If your network begins to run really slowly, chances are it is jammed. When too many computers send too much information at once, the system gets overloaded and consequently slows down. If this happens to your network, just wait it out. To prevent the problem from happening again, you may want to set up another network.
Shortages are also pretty common with wired networks. There are a lot of cables and other equipment running in all sorts of directions. If you experience a shortage it is most likely an unplugged cable or a bad one. If the cable is bad, new ones are very inexpensive.
Wired network equipment such as a router is known for its reliability. Sometimes you may get a dud or have software problems with your router but this can easily be fixed. You may want to contact the company to see if it's under warranty but if it's not, you can simply buy a new part.
Something very frustrating but very common is exceeding your bandwidth. Bandwidth is the allowed amount of traffic you are eligible for. If you exceed your bandwidth, you can be shut down until the traffic goes back down or you purchase more bandwidth. Many times this is simply trial and error.
One problem that most people know about with wired networks is the installation. This can be a nightmare for the person in charge. If you don't want to mess with this you may want to hire it out to someone who knows what they're doing.
The only other option is to get a wireless network. It will not be as reliable or quick as your wired network, but if installation is your biggest problem it may be worth looking into. Before you make the switch talk to people who have wireless to get a good idea of what you're getting into.
A wired network is a great invention. It really helps companies and individuals get a lot more work done a lot faster. Make sure you are aware of the problems that arise and be prepared to solve them.
