Although South Carolina is not historically known as a wine producing area, there are a growing choice of small wineries situated in the state. Many of them are clustered alongside the coast, yet there are a number of wineries situated in the Upstate area. Victoria Valley Vineyards is situated north of Greenville and just south of the North Carolina state line. Their wine choices encompass Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, two styles of Chardonnay, and a Viognier. Rockhouse Vineyard is situated at 1525 Turner Road in Tryon and is definitely worth the quick drive north.
